Last night for a Christmas party I put my hair in a Rose Bun held with lightsaber chopsticks. There was an accent braid on the left, but I didn't get any pictures of it.

I like your lightsabers, sparrowswing. And your rose bun, of course.

All of these buns are so pretty and perfect! I'm so lazy with my hair when it comes to styling! lol but it's so unruly and everywhere that it's harder to make pretty buns. Also, I have a lot of frizz/fly aways so they never look that great anyway :/ I wish I had some of the accessories you guys have! I just have one pair of sticks! I'm new to buns and styling my hair so I'm unfamiliar with all the types of buns and the names of them.

schweedie, your bun is beautiful, as always. Then again, with hair like yours I would be shocked if it didn't look wonderful. Even your nape frizz isn't really frizzing.

If you misted your nape friz with a little water would it form curls?

I do this with rose water plus a touch of aloe vera gel, and the nape hairs do curl.

I've actually never tried it - always figured my hair was too straight to curl. But maybe! Something to try next time I do a high bun.

After piffyanne suggested it, I tried out a rope braided vortex bun on Christmas:


Then, thanks to loving the bun but hating how the rope braids caused my hair to tangle, today I've been wearing a braided vortex bun. Only two braids, however. I think I should try it with three next!


On the topic of nape curls, check out the crazy one on my left side. Silly thing!

gossamer, your hair is stunning. Mine is so thin that my vortex buns always come out pathetically small. Yours are so big they could be eating your head.
